- FADE IN:
- Alicia walks down the hallway to enter the MMI lab. She opens the door.
- Alicia finds Charles inside sitting at a computer in the lab working. Charles looks up to see her in the doorway; he smiles.
- CHARLES
- Hi, honey. Nice to see you.
- Alicia stands in the doorway. She crosses her arms.
- ALICIA
- Hi honey to you too. Do you know what time it is?
- CHARLES
- Uh, it's 9:30
- ALICIA
- Well I thought that we agreed to meet in the lobby at eight.
- CHARLES
- Dang it, I was working so hard on this thing for Zwick that I totally forgot.
- ALICIA
- I waited an hour and a half; I called your room, your cell phone, and security!
- CHARLES
- Security? What do they know?
- Alicia walks from the door way over do Charles computer to see what he is working on. She stands over him to see his monitors. Software is open that displays solitaire on one monitor and minesweeper on the other.
- ALICIA
- Oh, and where’s Tetris? I thought for sure that Mr. Z said you needed to play Tetris too.
- CHARLES
- It’s not what you think, really. I’m just taking a break.
- ALICIA
- So you’re telling me that you stood me up to work on homework? And you’re not even doing homework, you’re playing games.
- CHARLES
- Look, you don’t understand, Zwick’s tests are insane! I just need a little break to keep me fresh.
- ALICIA
- And what, were you just going to ignore me? You can’t just ignore people, they have to come first.
- CHARLES
- I’m sorry but I just loose track of time down here. It’s hard enough to remember to eat with all this MMI homework.
- Alicia moves over to sit next to Charles.
- ALICIA
- I know, but at least you don’t have to learn 2 dead languages.
- CHARLES
- Yeah, I just have to learn 3 different scripting languages, and a half dozen pieces of software.
- ALICIA
- (Standing to leave.)
- So you’re saying that just because you have homework, I should just forgive you and let it slide that you’re being a jerk. Well that’s not going to happen.
- CHARLES
- Wait, I didn’t mean it that way. I was only, well, I’m sorry. Really, I’ll try to remember next time.
- ALICIA
- My parents warned me about you, they were worried that you wouldn’t treat me well. I have to go now. I’ll be seeing you!
- CHARLES
- (As he stands.)
- Look school is just a short time, soon we’ll be done here; don’t throw this away over one missed date.
- Alicia turns and walks out in frustration.
- FADE OUT.
